Who Am I?
I was born to a pair of college graduate students in San Francisco, California, who chose to focus on their careers and put me up for adoption. My biological parents went on to marry and gave birth to my sister, Mona Simpson, who I did not meet until my adulthood. In 1972, I graduated from high school in California and moved to Portland, Oregon to attend college. Although I dropped out after only one semester, I continued to audit classes.
I took a job as a technician at Atari in order to save for a backpacking trip to India to seek philosophical enlightenment. While working for Atari I attended meetings at Homebrew Computer Club in Silicon Valley with a good mate. We went on to build a personal computer that I was eager to market. On April 1, 1976, our company was born.
I spent the next ten years building my company and focusing on technology and usability for the masses. However, in 1986, this relationship went sour and I eventually was forced to leave my own company behind. The next ten years saw me focus on two projects, one of which is known as Pixar. Nevertheless, in 1996 I rejoined my old company as CEO and was able to reach new heights with our hi-tech products. Eventually, Fortune magazine considered me “one of Silicon Valley's leading egomaniacs.” This summer I released my most ambitious product yet and expect to it to be as revolutionary Isaac Newton's apple falling from a tree. |
