Born in 1961 in South East Asia, the essence of my chosen profession coursed through my veins well before I was born. Born into a family of shoemakers, I constructed my first shoe at age 11.
I moved to London, UK where my part time work in restaurants and as a cleaner at a shoe factory helped me pay for my college education. In 1986, I opened my first workshop in Hackney. From this point forward my designs became noticed and my craftsmanship renowned. It was in 1988 that Vogue magazine featured an 8-page spread for my shoes and in 1990 when I started working with my most famous client; Princess Diana.
In 1996, my company was co-founded. I teamed up with the then Vogue accessories editor and the rest is history. My niece has since been assigned Creative Director and although I sold my 50% share of the business in 2001, I still work producing various couture lines.
My designs are worn by celebrities world-wide, were widely flaunted on Sex and the City and have been thrown around in many lyrics to top pop songs.
