Born in Perth, Western Australian on 30 March, I was named after an Australian writer that my mother admired. I married in 1958 and had my first and only child; a daughter, in 1964.
In the first edition of the BBC radio show, From Us to You, I wrote and performed a song tailored for the Beatles, with the Beatles performing the background vocals. The lyrics below were part of the song: |

I would have to say that my most notable achievement is my invention of the “wobble board”, an instrument that became synonymous with my name. I performed at the 1982 Commonwealth Games and in 2004, was voted into Radio Times list of the Top 40 most eccentric presenters of all time.
Despite my musical and entertainment background, I proudly proclaim art as my true passion. I currently hold frequent exhibitions in London, where I now reside.
