In 1984 I injured my knee whilst being scouted for the Scottish football club the Rangers, changing my choice of career to the one I am famous for now.

I was nominated for Rector at the University of St. Andrews.

I starred in part of a Give Blood television advertisement, in which I said that another man in the ad had saved my life through a transplant.


I can often be spotted running around Richmond Park, London. I completed my 7th Flora London Marathon in 2006. I aim to compete 10 in 10 consecutive years.

My current cars are a Ferrari F430 and a Range Rover Sport Supercharged.

In 2004 I was nominated for the BAFTA Award and the National TV Award in the UK.

In 2007, I opened my first pub in London.
